Your First Dental Visit
Our goal during your initial appointment will be to learn everything we can about both your oral health and the future you see for your smile. After completing paperwork for registration, you'll be escorted to an operatory. To save time, we recommend filling out your forms online. Then, we’ll discuss your health history, dental history, immediate pain and concerns, and long-term goals. We also take your blood pressure, and if necessary, we’ll update your records with digital X-rays at this time
With advanced diagnostic technology, Dr. Pollard or Dr. Patel will evaluate your entire mouth – teeth, gums, occlusion, jaw joints, and soft tissues. A head and neck evaluation, oral cancer screening, gum disease assessment, and intraoral/extraoral photographs complete your checkup. All of the information we gather will be reviewed carefully, and you will be encouraged to become an active participant in treatment planning. Please ask questions and share your thoughts so we can create a custom dental care plan that makes you feel confident and comfortable!
Dental Cleanings & Checkups for Plano Families
We recommend patients of all ages attend at least two appointments a year at our practice. This allows our Plano team to locate problematic areas and provide effective treatment at the earliest possible stages protecting you from more severe damage and discomfort down the road. In addition to a thorough check-up, we also remove dangerous plaque and tartar from your teeth and gums with in-depth hygiene. You’ll leave our office with a smile that feels refreshed and polished!
General & Family Dentistry
How long will a dazzling smile last without the proper care to keep it looking healthy and beautiful? Our general dentist's practice focuses on the preservation of natural teeth, whenever possible, and our team will make sure you have the care and information you need to safeguard these valuable assets. We encourage regular checkups and good hygiene habits so you and your family reap the benefits of optimal oral health.
The integrity of supporting tissues, your gums and bone, influences your overall dental health. Issues such as gum disease and tooth decay cause teeth to loosen and possibly fall out. Oral cancer kills more people each year than cervical cancer, Hodgkin's lymphoma, laryngeal cancer, and skin cancer, so we take protecting teeth and gums seriously.
Your general and family dentist will treat any dental conditions and restore your whole-mouth health. After performing a thorough evaluation to assess your current status, Dr. Pollard or Dr. Patel will review the findings and make recommendations for treatment. If you have children, rest assured that our general and family dentists will treat them with compassion and gentleness so they develop a positive view of dental visits and lifelong home-health habits.
At Dental Renaissance, we love seeing every member of your family, and that includes the littlest members. Dr. Pollard, Dr. Patel, and the rest of our staff always take a gentle and friendly approach when caring for their growing smiles, personalizing their level of care to match their emotional maturity. We’ll be sure to let you know if we find any signs of developmental concerns, and protective measures like dental sealants and fluoride treatment can help their oral health stay strong in these early years.

Bruxism, TMJ dysfunction, and myofacial pain can cause debilitating, frustrating issues. Many patients suffer from headaches, ringing in the ear, neck pain, and tingling in the extremities, among other problems. We offer services designed to remedy pain and correct the imbalance in the jaw joints. Dr. Pollard or Dr. Patel also treat the occlusion and bite relationships to achieve whole-mouth harmony.
Your jaw joints, or temporomandibular joints, control the opening and closing of your upper and lower jaws. When these joints experience stress, fatigue, or injury, the TMJ become misaligned, which causes irritation in the surrounding muscles and nerves. We evaluate your entire mouth to confirm TMJ dysfunction. Then, Dr. Pollard or Dr. Patel recommend the appropriate non-surgical TMJ therapy, which may involve an oral appliance to prevent clenching and grinding, restorations to rebuild your bite, exercises to strengthen the muscles, and over-the-counter anti-inflammatories to alleviate discomfort.

During a dental procedure, you're grateful that local anesthesia numbs your mouth and provides you with a comfortable visit. But what about after the appointment? Dental anesthetic usually lasts between three and five hours. Long after you’ve left the office, the lingering numbness takes its toll on your speech, smile, and ability to eat or drink without mishap. You may even find yourself drooling. OraVerse works to reverse the unwanted effects of numbness after dental treatment so you can return to normal function and enjoy your day. The first and only product that effectively and rapidly diminishes local anesthetic’s effects, OraVerse has been clinically proven to speed up your recovery to full sensation and function after a dental procedure.
Your dentist will administer OraVerse through an injection immediately after treatment, so the affected area feels normal faster. Since you’ll still be numbed, it’s likely you won’t feel the injection, and you’ll soon be able to get on with your day without limitation.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Did you know that one person dies of oral cancer every hour? It’s not as rare as you think. On average, 132 people are diagnosed with it each day, and it can have deadly effects on you. Similar to other cancers, you increase your odds of beating oral cancer when you catch it early. That’s why we at Dental Renaissance perform oral cancer screenings at your regular dental checkup with our compassionate, experienced team.
