General & Family Dentistry
Our dental office focuses on the preservation of natural teeth, and our team will make sure you have the care and information you need to safeguard these valuable assets. We encourage regular checkups and good hygiene habits so you and your family will consistently enjoy optimal oral health.
The integrity of your gums and jawbone influences your overall dental health as much as your teeth. Issues such as gum disease and tooth decay can cause teeth to loosen and possibly fall out. Oral cancer kills more people each year than cervical or skin cancer, so we take protecting your teeth and gums seriously.
Your general and family dentist is ready to treat any dental conditions and restore your whole-mouth health. After performing a thorough evaluation to assess your current status, Dr. Blankenship or Dr. Patel will review their findings and make recommendations for treatment. If you have children, our general and family dentists will treat them with compassion and gentleness so they develop a positive view of dental visits and lifelong home-health habits.
Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings
We recommend patients of all ages attend at least two appointments a year at our dental office. This allows our Plano team to locate problematic areas and provide effective treatment at the earliest possible stages. This protects you from more severe damage and discomfort down the road. In addition to a thorough checkup, we also remove dangerous plaque and tartar from your teeth and gums with in-depth hygiene.
For your youngest family members, oral care can be a difficult habit to perfect. This is why tooth decay is so common in younger patients. If your child needs additional protection from cavity-causing bacteria, dental sealants can make a huge difference. Dental sealants utilize composite resin to seal the most vulnerable teeth to prevent decay, specifically the molars and premolars, which contain deep pits and fissures, which are known to collect food and plaque. Once applied, your child can expect years of protection.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Do you wake up with jaw pain? Do your teeth appear flat and worn down? Do they feel sensitive when exposed to hot or cold substances? Teeth grinding and clenching (or bruxism) is incredibly common, but that doesn’t mean you should be forced to live with it. Nightguards act as a shield for your teeth and work to reduce the negative effects of chronic teeth grinding, including jaw pain and enamel erosion. They can lower someone’s risk of experiencing a dental emergency as well.
Athletic Mouthguards / Sportsguards
If you or your child is particularly active, especially in a contact sport like football or hockey, then you likely already know how important having the right gear is. Today, most dental emergencies occur as a result of sporting injuries, so it’s worth having the best protection possible when playing your favorite game! With a custom-made athletic mouthguard, you can expect optimal protection as well as the most comfortable fit possible.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Did you know that one person dies of oral cancer every single hour? It’s not as rare as you think. On average, 132 people are diagnosed with it each day. Similar to other cancers, you increase your odds of beating oral cancer when you catch it early. That’s why we perform oral cancer screenings at every regular dental checkup.
At Dental Renaissance, we love seeing every member of your family, and that includes the littlest members. Our staff always takes a gentle and friendly approach when looking after growing smiles, personalizing our care to match their emotional maturity. We’ll be sure to let you know if we find any signs of developmental concerns. Protective measures like dental sealants and fluoride treatments can help a child’s oral health stay strong in these early years.
