Oral  Conscious Sedation

Sedation dentistry allows you to rest comfortably while receiving the care you need and want. If fear of the dentist keeps you from necessary dental work, ask us about sedation dentistry to ease you through any procedure. For patients who experience any nervousness about treatment, we can offer nitrous oxide gas, oral conscious sedation, or IV sedation. With nitrous oxide, patients inhale the gas, which produces a warm, peaceful feeling during treatment. The effects of nitrous oxide only last as long as you are receiving the gas. Oral conscious sedation combines nitrous oxide with a common anti-anxiety medication to produce a state of extreme relaxation.

IV Sedation

While mostly used for oral surgeries or time-consuming procedures, IV sedation can alleviate the severe anxiety and phobias associated with dentists to make any dental procedure less stressful. In addition, patients with sensitive gag reflexes and those with TMJ or other neuromuscular disorders that make it hard to keep their mouths open for long periods of time often benefit from oral conscious or IV sedation. Dr. Pollard or Dr. Patel will consult with you to determine your anxiety level, review your medical history and current health conditions, and decide whether sedation dentistry is a safe option for your case.
